Bridal Hair & Makeup Trial

Is a bridal hair and makeup trial absolutely necessary?
Bridal hair and makeup trials are recommended to make sure you’re going to look perfect on your wedding day. Does your hair hold curl? Will the condition, texture, length allow you to achieve that amazing style you have your heart set on? Will you need extensions to add volume to your fine hair? Will my foundation last all day? All of these are important questions that shouldn't be left till your wedding day. During your hair and makeup trial your stylist can also determine how long they will need with you to produce the best outcome on the big day. Trials are also great for creating good energy and an easy going vibe for the wedding day because by then, everyone has already met and knows one another. This tends to put brides at ease and make it more comfortable, and believe me, when you're relaxed, it helps your hair and makeup look flawless and getting ready will be fun and easy! We don’t think it’s worth leaving some things to chance, but in the end  if you really don’t want to book  a trial, don’t! We know that a trial run is not an option for all brides because of busy schedules or perhaps the budget doesn't allow for it, so in the event you decided not to or can't have a trial, don't worry! just make sure you allow a little extra getting ready time on the day so your stylist can ensure you look and feel gorgeous!!

Don’t be afraid to speak up!
It’s important to relax and have fun at your trial, this is your time to be pampered and play with ideas for your bridal look. Be open and honest with us, let us know if there’s something you’re not sure of so we have the opportunity to adjust it for you. Remember hair and makeup isn’t permanent so changes can always be made and it’s important for both parties that you leave happy and excited.

When do I book my trial?
We recommend booking your trial 1 -2 months prior to your wedding date, this way you still have time to change your look if you decide and the trial is still fresh in our minds. If you decide you want to try another look, you are welcome to book another trial date with us, we only have time to do one look on the day of your trial. We will discuss all your details so there are no last minute surprises, taking into consideration things like, are you wearing a veil? Does your dress have an incredible feature on the back? Will you be having hair extensions? Will you have a tan on the day? All these things help us plan the big day preparations.

At your trial we can discuss your ideas and go through some bridal hair and makeup inspiration so we can get an understanding of how you want to look on your big day. We can offer advice and give you our professional opinion as to what would be most suitable taking into consideration your bone structure, face shape, eye & hair colour & skin type. We will work together to create your perfect bridal look, it’s so important that you feel 100% confident in your finished look, & that you still feel & look like yourself.

Come Prepared
Your trial will go much smoother if you have an idea of what you’re looking for. Know what you don’t want, too-that can be just as helpful! Time to get started on a Pinterest board-the more inspiration you bring, the easier it will be for your stylist to interpret what you want. “Photos of looks you love are always helpful.

What to bring to a wedding hair trial
Wear your hair down, generally washed the night before with no product in it.
Bring along photos of the kind of styles you like.
Bring your veil, wedding hair accessories, and earrings.
Bring a photo of your dress so your hairstylist can get a sense of the neckline.
Wear white (or whatever colour your wedding dress is)

What to bring to a wedding makeup trial
Come with no makeup on, and your skin moisturised.
Bring pictures of makeup looks you like.
If you plan to wear tan on your wedding day, it's a good idea to have the same shade on.
Wear white (or whatever colour your wedding dress is)
Shape your eyebrows 3 days before the trial.

Do my bridesmaids need a hair and makeup trial?
To answer this question from my experience, not many bridesmaids get bridal hair and makeup trials and I personally don’t advise them as I think only the bride needs a trial. My advice to you would be to tell your bridesmaid to look up some pictures online of what they like. This way they can show the hair and makeup artist on the wedding day what they like and don’t like!

Is the person doing the bridal hair and makeup trial the same person I will have on my wedding day?

Yes you will always receive the same bridal hair and makeup artist that you had at your bridal trial.

Do I bring my bridal hair accessories?
Ideally you would have chosen your hair accessories before your trial. This is especially important if you choose to wear a veil as your hair style will need to incorporate your chosen veil.

How do I look after my skin pre trial?
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin radiant and smooth. If you want soft, clean skin, exfoliating your face prior to the makeup trial will give you glowing skin. A hydrating moisturiser should be applied after. Have your eyebrows waxed 2 days prior to your makeup trial.

Can I bring someone with me to the bridal trial?
This is your time. Ideally it should just be you and your hair and makeup artist. Too many voices can get confusing, especially if you have a very opinionated friend. You want all the focus to be on you so you will be completely confident in your final look.

How do I secure my wedding date so no one else takes it?
We are only able to secure your wedding date once the deposit has been paid, the deposit will be deducted from the total amount quoted. Deposits and paid bookings are non-refundable if you cancel your wedding date with us. Blossom Hair & Makeup turn away many other jobs to be available on your wedding date, once your bridal makeup artist / bridal hair stylist has been booked you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of your quote.  If someone in your wedding party cancels their service, the balance will remain the same, you have the option of replacing them with someone else.
