BRIDAL HAIR AND MAKEUP TRIAL
Is a bridal hair and makeup trial absolutely necessary?
Bridal hair and makeup trials are recommended to make sure you’re going to look perfect on your wedding day. Does your hair hold curl? Will the condition, texture, length allow you to achieve that amazing style you have your heart set on? Will you need extensions to add volume to your fine hair? All of these are important questions that shouldn't be left till your wedding day. During your hair and makeup trial your stylist can also determine how long they will need with you to produce the best outcome on the big day. Trials are also great for creating good energy and an easy going vibe for the wedding day because by then, everyone has already met and knows one another. This tends to put brides at ease and make it more comfortable, and believe me, when you're relaxed, it helps your hair and makeup look flawless and getting ready will be fun and easy! We don’t think it’s worth leaving some things to chance, but in the end if you really don’t want to book a trial, don’t! We know that a trial run is not an option for all brides because of busy schedules or perhaps the budget doesn't allow for it, so in the event you decided not to or can't have a trial, don't worry! just make sure you allow a little extra getting ready time on the day so your stylist can ensure you look and feel gorgeous!!
When do I book my trail?
This does vary from bride to bride. But on average I'd recommend 1 to 3 months before your wedding day. Take advantage of looking great and plan a dinner out with your partner however, if you don’t want your partner to see your hair and makeup, it is a perfect time for a girls night out! You'll want enough details planned so you can make an informed decision about what you want and what you do and don't like, but should also leave time to do a second trial if you change your mind on the chosen look. That being said It can be helpful to schedule your dress fitting after your hair and makeup which will allow you the opportunity to see the whole bridal look! You get to see and feel like you will on the day you get married. You will get a visual idea of what works for you and what does not. Usually, by that time a theme for your wedding has been chosen and you have an idea of what you would like your wedding to be.
Don’t be afraid to speak up!
It’s important to relax and have fun at your trial, this is your time to be pampered and play with ideas for your bridal look. Remember hair and makeup isn’t permanent so changes can always be made and it’s important for both parties that you leave happy and excited.
What to bring to your bridal hair and makeup trial:
Do I wash my hair before the bridal hair trial?
If you’re having a hair trial, hair should be clean and blow-dried smooth. It is helpful to have plenty of images of looks that you like so we can narrow down the perfect look. Please wear a white shirt or white front buttoned up top.
Do I bring my bridal hair accessories?
Ideally you would have chosen your hair accessories before your trial. This is especially important if you choose to wear a veil as your hair style will need to incorporate your chosen veil.
How do I look after my skin pre trial?
Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin radiant and smooth. If you want soft, clean skin, exfoliating your face prior to the makeup trial will give you glowing skin. A hydrating moisturiser should be applied after. Have your eyebrows waxed 2 days prior to your makeup trial.
Can I bring someone with me to the bridal trial?
This is your time. Ideally it should just be you and your hair and makeup artist. Too many voices can get confusing, especially if you have a very opinionated friend. You want all the focus to be on you so you will be completely confident in your final look.
Can I bring my partner, fiancé, best male friend, father (ie…a boy!)
Sorry no males thanks - Men often feel a little uncomfortable around all the hair and makeup. We've sometimes had men that do wish to stay, and it has tended to make the other brides a little self conscious.
Do my bridesmaids need a hair and makeup trial?
To answer this question from my experience, not many bridesmaids get bridal hair and makeup trials and I personally don’t advise them as I think only the bride needs a trial. My advice to you would be to tell your bridesmaid to look up some pictures online of what they like. This way they can show the hair and makeup artist on the wedding day what they like and don’t like!
Is the person doing the bridal hair and makeup trial the same person I will have on my wedding day?
Yes you will always receive the same bridal hair and makeup artist that did your wedding trial.
I don’t want both services, just wedding hair or just wedding makeup?
No problem, you can book either wedding service. Hair, Makeup or both.
How do I secure my wedding date so no one else takes it?
